This book is about 50 women and men who were innocent of any crime that merited them dying, but they nevertheless paid the ultimate price. They were the wrong color, in the wrong place, at the wrong time, confronted by the wrong person with too much power.

Reviews

"There are too many for him to account for all of them in this book. He has chosen to personify fifty fallen victims to make them more visible to the country so that their deaths are not forgotten. By writing about them, he has humanized them. His research and thoughts here are not to condemn all persons working in law enforcement (and whose services and dedication every American appreciates), but to show that those officers have a duty to protect lives. To do otherwise is to dishonor their profession and their contemporaries ought to demand better of them: be professional. Dana Ulloth addresses the unequal treatment given to Black Americans compared to their white counterparts."
