About the author: James Chambers earned his doctorate in Urbanology and Public Affairs from Portland State University. He has been a practitioner in the juvenile justice system. He is currently a professor at Florida Gulf Coast University where he teaches graduate courses, in addition to criminology and delinquency, administrative and personnel law, statistics, urban and public affairs, state and local government, and labor management issues. He has written numerous books and articles on parricide, black crime and delinquency, police relations, the political economy of slavery, and collaborative learning techniques.
