Dr. Reilly is South African, with twenty-three years experience as a scientist and middle manager in national conservation agencies. He is recognized as a biostatistician and an expert on the monitoring of wildlife populations. Reilly is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Nature Conservation at Tshwane University of Technology.
