Beth L. Virtanen, is Professor and Paloheimo Scholar in the Department of Language and Literature at Finlandia University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Technical Communication from Michigan Tech University. Dr. Virtanen founded the Finnish North American Literature Association, a professional organization for Finnish-North American authors and poets, and maintains its website, including the bibliography of Finnish-North American literature. She coedits the Journal of Finnish Studies, an interdisciplinary and international scholarly publication, and is founding Editor of Kippis! A Literary Journal, which publishes international multicultural literature.
