About the author: William J. F. Lew was born and raised in mainland China. He received his PhD at Southern Illinois University. He did research at the East-West Center and at Harvard's Fairbanks Center. His publications include many articles and books in Chinese and English. He has taught in China and Hong Kong. He is currently Professor of Developmental Psychology and Education at National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China.
