About the author: Michael Salwen received his PhD from Michigan State University. He is currently Professor in the Journalism and Photography program at the University of Miami. He has been a newspaper columnist and reporter, and has written many articles and reviews. He is the author of Radio and TV in Cuba: The Pre-Castro Era (Iowa State University Press, 1994) and other titles.
