Ludwig J. Marek was born in Switzerland, the son of Czech parents. In 1993 he enrolled on an athletic scholarship at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, where he received his degree in English Literature. For the last two years he has lived and played professional ice hockey in Switzerland, and continued to work on various literary projects including poetry, novels, and short stories.
