About the authors: Jan Bakker is Professor of English at Utah State University, where he teaches American literature of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Francelia Butler was Professor of English at the University of Connecticut, where she taught literature of the British renaissance, children’s literature, and founded the scholarly journal Children’s Literature.
