After retirement from Uganda, he returned to Cambridge, and at ODA request and with a doctorate and Fellowship of Wolfson college, he lectured and researched in Development Studies.

Viewed against the influence of recent political events, and current difficulties, needs and potentials are investigated and recommendations made which could permit modernization while respecting traditional values.
