Dr. White currently teaches Composition, Linguistics, and Literature in the English department at Slippery Rock University. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
2008 0-7734-5064-5 This work addresses Native American students’ learning and participation styles with regard to second language acquisition in such a context: The Haidas of British Columbia learning their ancestral language in an elementary school classroom. The study also elucidates the problems encountered during the transition from informal learning to formal education.
