2006 0-7734-5864-6Much has been written on the similarities between Canada, Australia and other Westernised English colonies in terms of the representation of Indigenous identity in fiction by white writers. This study addresses some very specific textual responses to this use of the ‘indigene’ by authors who are not from mainstream Anglo culture. The work makes an original contribution to knowledge and culture by comparing not only authors on far sides of the world, but also by comparing authors who do not easily fit into neat categories of identity themselves.
