1995 0-7734-8975-4 This study is an historical community study, the first research on this group of Boers/Afrikaners who, following the Anglo-Boer War, refused to take the oath of loyalty to the British Crown, and instead emigrated, creating a settlement in Chubut, Argentina. It blends migration theory and ethnicity, documents the conditions which gave rise to the emigration, the names of individuals who migrated, the farms established in Argentina, the bleak living conditions and hardships. It is also the first report of the fact that a number of Blacks emigrated with the settlers. It contains an exhaustive survey of all documents and literature in Afrikaans, Dutch, English, and Spanish.
