About the author: Alexandre Kimenyi is a Professor of Linguistics, Ethnic Studies and African languages at California State University. His research interests include all aspects of theoretical and descriptive linguistics as well as Bantu languages. His other published books on linguistics are Studies in Kinyarwanda and Bantu Phonology, A Reactional Grammar of Kinyarwanda and Kinyarwanda and Kirundi Names (Mellen 1989).
