Spiritual Meaning of Material Things in the Novels of Adalbert Stifter (1805-1868) A Study in Poetic Realism
2015 1-4955-0358-5
“Pamela Saur’s study makes an important contribution to the ongoing wide-ranging treatment of Stifter’s works. Though emphasizing Stifter’s Biedermeier roots, she goes beyond the well-worn Biedermeier etiquette through her exploration of the meaning behind the material objects in Stifter’s fiction. Her analysis validates Stifter’s inclusion as a German Realist author.”
