About the author: Professor Jurowski, of Warsaw, Poland, is the best-known of the small but growing number of scholars to have made puppetry in general and theatre with puppets in particular a primary subject of study. He is a senior lecturer in the theory and history of puppets in the Warsaw Higher School of Theatre and the Institut International de la Marionnette, Charleville-Mézières, France. His published works in Polish, French, German and English have been translated into several languages. He has been decorated for his services to theatre by Poland and France.
